Our first Charity Beer Festival was a HUGE success, with 17 ales new to the Queens Arms and 13 new breweries – some unique beers brewed especially for the Queens Beer Festival.
Thank you to all our regulars, supporters and sponsors for making this a very special weekend and for helping to raise money for the two charities.
We raised a massive £1355.24 over the festival weekend – £777.62 for the Papworth RSSC Unit, and £577.62 for Shoalstone Sea Water Pool. A £200 donation went to CAMRA, and £200 was raised throughout the year from an earlier Pig Racing event, and from contributions to the b… Charity Swear Box on the Queens Arms bar!
Friday & Saturday: 5pm–9pm; Sunday: 2pm–4pm.

With thanks to St Austell Brewery’s James Vincent, and CAMRA officers George & Tina Hemmings, for the wonderful opportunity you gave me to brew our own Beer [Chris Simmonds].

Teignworthy’s traditional winter warmer. Fruity smooth and rich tasting.
Full bodied black beer with roasted flavour underscored with fruit and low bitterness.
Deep brown/red beer, plenty of dark malts with sterling and bobec hops which give a well balanced smooth strong beer.
A true American styled IPA. The six hop additions lead to a well rounded IPA. At 69 IBUs, one might not think that this is overly hoppy, but with almost half of the hops being added at the knockout stage (and therefore not giving any ratable bitterness) the hops are there and in force! This IPA is big and delicious…one not to be missed!
Rich, complex and dark Porter from an original 1872 recipe, with an old port nose, and coffee and bitter chocolate flavours on the palate.
CAMRA Supreme Champion Beer of Britain, August 2013
Golden bitter, the malt is balanced by subtle hop additions, delivering citrus, grassy undertones and aroma.

Lovely malty flavours with a slight hop finish.
Extra special version of Southwest favourite beer. Tribute Extra has developed a cult following every year as pub goers seek out the special seasonal version of their regular pint. Packed to the rim with zesty American willamett and Slovenian styrian golding hops.

American style craft brew part IPA.
This is a one-off festival special.
With generous helpings of dominant American hops this red-hue beer packs full of flavour. Fortified with ruby port, the dark fruit aromas hint at its deep, warming notes. What follows is a surprisingly mellow after taste.

Light apple ale with a green hop and dry. Hopped with clypso.

Sam’s Cider with Blackcurrant is made from a combination of our finest cider and blackcurrants, the cider adds balance to the blackcurrants acidity and sweetness which leaves an aftertaste which is fresh and sharply cleansing to the palate.
Autumn Scrumpy is made from specially selected apples that have been sourced from our local growers to make a premium quality wine-like cider which is bright in colour, well balanced and releases a wonderful apple aroma.
A soft flavour with a rounded finish to savour!
Each year, the Friends of Shoalstone Sea Water Pool work tirelessly to reclaim this historic sea water pool, located in an idyllic spot in Brixham, Devon, from the ravages inflicted upon it by the wild winter storms and huge seas. Shoalstone Pool is one of only a few remaining sea water pools in this country. The money raised by the Friends pays for its annual cleaning, painting and recommissioning, and also helps to build a contingency fund in the event of a major storm and any subsequent repairs needed.
We are supporting this charity as an important local icon that is in danger of being lost from the town.
The Papworth Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) is a major centre for the provision of ventilatory support and sleep medicine with a national referral base. The main services provided in the RSSC are the progressive care programme, domiciliary ventilation, specialist oxygen systems and the management of a wide range of both respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders. There are 30 beds on the main ward and a further 6 in the sleep laboratory, where there is also a research area.
We support this charity in memory of Kelly Simmonds, the landlord’s sister, who received help from the Papworth RSSC.
